Shaun Roney is the Owner and Creator of TwinkleTies. She’s been teaching dance for the past 25 years and has danced with over 2000 tiny dancers during that time.

After obtaining her B.A. in Child Development she started several successful dance programs in her local community. She is passionate about her family, dance and making a difference in the lives of children.

She met her husband of 20 years via a dance class (that he signed up to take with her) and their two teen-aged children will often catch them dancing in the kitchen to disco hits of the 70s and 80s.

Story of Triumph

Luma Motion Academy was a dance studio that I opened in Elk Grove, CA. I operated it as a part of the local Parks and Recreation program for 4 years and then ran it independently for 1.5 years. I had a staff of 8 instructors and together we put on large shows at the local community college twice a year, performed at the Crocker Art Museum for Congresswoman Doris Matsui and saw over 2000 children come through our program. Right before I closed the studio, my mother’s cancer returned and she passed away within 4 months. I’d say that entire experience was a combination of triumph and disaster, highs and lows. There were definitely lessons learned that came out of it that I’ve carried with me into all future ventures.
